Once a year, Numerica Credit Union’s President and CEO, Carla Cicero, hits the road for a very special, year-end mission; to surprise five unsuspecting local charities with a $5,000 donation.
While the smiles and excitement of learning of the surprise is heartwarming for the Numerica team, it is the hard work of these wonderful charities that is truly moving.
The recipients of Numerica’s 2017 CEO on the Road were:
Chelan-Douglas CASA provides volunteer advocates for children who have been abused or neglected throughout the Wenatchee Valley.
SARC (Support, Advocacy & Resource Center)
SARC is an organization that provides crisis services, support and advocacy to victims of sexual assault in the Tri-Cities community.
Grace Clinic provides free medical, dental and mental health services to uninsured people in the Tri-Cities.
Elevations – A Children’s Therapy Resource Foundation
Elevations is an organization committed to elevating Spokane-area children with special needs by providing access to the resources and support they need to improve their family’s overall quality of life.
The Anna Schindler Foundation’s project “Anna’s Homes”
Anna’s Homes will provide temporary housing for childhood cancer families receiving treatment at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane.
“CEO on the Road is a program near and dear to my heart,” Carla explains with a smile. “By surprising these five wonderful organizations with $5,000, we are able to support their efforts and ultimately help bring awareness to the impact they have on those in need.”
CEO on the Road was created to directly assist local non-profits with unrestricted funds, an important distinction with end-of-year budget deadlines approaching.
“The surprise element is my favorite part,” shares Cicero. “When we walk up with a big $5,000 check, their reactions are priceless!”
For the first time, the CEO on the Road program granted donations in all three of Numerica’s market areas in 2017. Rounding out the program was a final – and very snowy – stop at the construction site of Anna Schindler Foundation’s current project “Anna’s Homes.”
Once construction is complete, Anna’s Homes will serve as temporary housing for families with children going through cancer treatment, explained Polly Schindler, the organization’s founder. “This gift will help get Anna’s Homes completed for our families,” said Schindler.
An organization founded in honor of their daughter who lost her battle with childhood cancer, Anna Schindler Foundation is committed to making life easier for families whose children are also fighting cancer.
Polly and Joe Schindler beamed with pride as their goals of honoring their daughter’s life through their newest project took one step closer to completion. “Thank you for the goodness, love and kindness,” Schindler said with a smile.
