The Spokane Park Board approved a proposed naming partnership with Spokane Valley, Wash. based Numerica Credit Union of Riverfront’s Skate Ribbon and SkyRide – providing additional free and low-cost programs and operations funds.
In celebration of the new partnership, Numerica and Riverfront Spokane welcomed the community for free ice skating at the newly-named Numerica Skate Ribbon & SkyRide over President’s Day weekend in exchange for a donation to Second Harvest Inland Northwest.
“This partnership between Riverfront Spokane and Numerica exemplifies our commitment to helping communities live well by coming together and celebrating the events and people that make this an amazing place to live,” said Carla Cicero, Numerica president and CEO.
“It is important to us that we give to causes, charities and community partners who share our passion to foster well-being in the lives of our members, our neighbors, and our visitors,” explained Cicero. “By supporting Riverfront Spokane, we’re also supporting family entertainment, community events, economic growth, and the creation of enjoyable memories that last a lifetime.”
The 2012 Riverfront Park Master Plan encourages exploration of public and private sponsorships to sustain the community’s investment in the redeveloped park. In February 2018, Riverfront announced they would seek programming and facility title sponsors.
“Numerica’s partnership leverages taxpayer funds to ensure an active, affordable, entertaining, and beautiful gathering place for the community. It allows us to bring even more free and low-cost programming to the community, like free skate lessons and discount theme nights - a key mission of our park,” said Jon Moog, Director of Riverfront.
As with all collaborations, naming partners must align with the mission of Parks and Recreation.
“Numerica is an excellent fit because they are a local business focused on giving back where their members live, work and play. They strive to give back at least 5% of their earnings to the community, and we’re grateful they see Riverfront – the community’s gathering place - as a vehicle to deliver on their mission to ‘build communities’” said Moog.
