Numerica is committed to fostering well-being, and that starts with financial education for our community's kids. Let's start the financial conversations today, so youth have a positive relationship with money for tomorrow.

We worked closely with superintendents and teachers to develop curricula and educational workshops for young adults at area schools and youth organizations. A sample of the topics we cover include:

  • Creating S.M.A.R.T. (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Time Frame) Savings Goals
  • Understanding the difference between banks vs. credit unions (All ages)
  • Building blocks to savings (Elementary)
  • Interviewing for a Job (High School and older)
  • Understanding Credit - Credit Score and Credit Cards. This session is covered best in two sessions. (High School and older)
  • Creating a budget (High School and older)
  • Investing (High School and older)
  • Financial Simulation Students will become adults over night! They now have a house, job, bills and a family to support. What choices will they make? This session is covered best in two sessions. (High School and older)
  • Student loans (High School and older)
  • Fraud (High School and older)
  • Check writing (High School and older)
  • Teacher's Guides Available Upon Request

A student's dream of higher education shouldn't be cut short because of financial limitations. Numerica offers three different scholarship programs to its members in good standing, the Financial Education Scholarship for students who have completed Numerica's financial education program, the Student Ambassador Scholarship for high school seniors who are entering a two or four-year college or university and the Returning Education Scholarship for students who are returning to a two or four-year program after at least a year lapse in attendance. The scholarships are focused around the applicant's community service efforts and does not have a GPA requirement.

  • Deadline: June 15, 2018
  • Judging: July 13, 2018
  • Award: July 20, 2018
Eligibility
  • Must be a Numerica Member
  • Must be a returning student for a first Associates or Bachelor’s degree (Students who are returning for a Doctorate, Master’s or second Bachelor’s degree are not eligible)
  • Some college or trade school is required
  • Students must have a lapse in schooling of one year minimum
  • Must be employed
  • Must complete interview via phone or in-person
  • Must provide cover letter addressing educational goals, future career plans, financial need, and other information the committee might find valuable in evaluating the application
  • Must have been accepted into a college or university and provide a copy of the acceptance letter from the college or university

Financial Education Scholarships

  • Deadline: June 30, 2018
  • Judging: July 25, 2018
  • Award: August 2, 2018
Eligibility
  • Does not need to be a Numerica member
  • Must be a junior or senior during the 2017/2018 school year
  • No GPA requirement
  • Must have completed a four, six or eight-week financial education program offered by Numerica's financial education team
  • Must write a testiomonial as to how learning about financial education in high school will help them reach their goals
  • Must complete interview via phone or in-person
  • Must provide cover letter addressing education goals, future career plans, financial need, and other information about themselves that the committee might find valuable in evaluating the application
  • Applicants who have not completed the Financial Education through Numerica will not be eligible
  • Staff members of Numerica are not eligible. However, dependents who meet all of the requirements are eligible

Student Ambassador Scholarship

  • Deadline: May 1, 2018
  • Judging: May 24, 2018
  • Award: June 6, 2018
Eligibility
  • Applicant must be a Numerica member in good standing
  • Must be a high school senior entering college/university as a full-time freshman student in fall of 2018
  • No GPA requirement
  • Must have a minimum of 20 community service hours.
  • Must provide a reference letter from a non-profit 501(c)3 (Letters from school coaches, counselors or teachers will not be accepted)
  • Must provide a non-profit 501(c)3 reference letter
  • Must complete interview via phone or in-person
  • Must provide cover letter addressing educational goals, future career plans, financial need, and other information the committee might find valuable in evaluating the application
  • Must have been accepted into a college or university
