New grants strengthen veteran services
The Numerica Heroes Fund is expanding its support for veterans and military families by investing $42,500 in 3 local organizations that strengthen mental health, honor fallen service members, and connect veterans and military families with critical community resources.
Building on its first investment supporting housing for veterans experiencing homelessness, these grants continue the Heroes Fund's $1 million, 10-year commitment to those who have served.
The latest grants include:
Supporting veteran mental health
Veterans Community Response hosts two annual retreats that help combat veterans reconnect, heal, and build lasting relationships through peer support, outdoor experiences, and guidance from trauma clinicians. The Heroes Fund grant will keep the retreats free for participants while expanding access to mental health programming and peer connection.
"Your support strengthens our ability to reach veterans across the Inland Northwest and North Idaho, bringing them together in community, connection, and healing," said Terri Fowler of Veterans Community Response.
Honoring fallen service members
The Washington State Fallen Heroes Project preserves the legacy of Washington's fallen service members while supporting Gold Star Families through memorials, remembrance events, and community education. The grant will help sustain those programs and continue bringing families, veterans, and the community together to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
"Every fallen hero deserves to be remembered by name, every Gold Star family deserves enduring support, and every community has a role in preserving that legacy," said Keirsten Lyons of Washington State Fallen Heroes Project.
Expanding access to community resources
The Numerica Heroes Fund is also helping expand the annual Stand Down for Veterans, which moves to Numerica Veterans Arena this October. Hosted by Spokane County Regional Veteran Services, the event connects veterans and their families with healthcare, legal assistance, housing resources, employment services, meals, and other essential services.
Looking ahead
Looking ahead, Numerica's Eastern Washington University football partnerships, including Tailgate for a Cause and Touchdowns for a Cause, will support military families with children through a new partnership with Michael Anderson Elementary and other local organizations.
Together, these investments continue the Numerica Heroes Fund's commitment to supporting veterans and military families through meaningful partnerships that strengthen lives and communities.
